I have been riding ZEPHYR1100 for 25 years. I guess the urethane is too hard, not the spongy one, but the hardness of the urethane. The combination of the decline of the buttock muscles and the shabby rear suspension made it impossible for me to ride for 5 hours. I had groin pain and lower back pain.
I thought about uncoating, but my dad at Motorcycle shop recommended this. No problem to install.
The effect on touring is not yet, but when I use it for commuting, I have a feeling that the Gel absorbs fine vibrations. The sticky feeling is good. It is 1cm thick, but I don't mind the footing. There are some wrinkles from sagging, but it does not bother me when I sit on it.

I have been using it for about 5 years now and it is very useful. I ride crazy distances, like 800 km a day down the road, but it doesn't hurt too much even if I ride all the time. I mean 800 km a day trip, that means I have to ride almost all the time without taking a break, but it hurts so much that I can't! I have never felt like that. Last year I rode about 1,400 km in two days on the SSTR, and my buttocks did not hurt at all. I have been riding motorcycles for the past 5 years and for some reason my buttocks have been sore some years and some years not sore at all. I thought about why, and I found out that I have gained weight twice in the past 5 years, and it was when I was fat that my buttocks were more likely to hurt. Now that I am training and working out, maybe it is less likely to hurt. What I'm trying to say is that this product performs great, but the amount of muscle strength we have may have something to do with it. If you are suffering from butt pain, you might want to work out a little to get your butt in shape. Gold is a small price to pay, but you won't regret it. I have another Motorcycle, so I had my Seat modified, but I recommend Seat modified by Yamachan's Seat Workshop because you will not get butt pain even if you ride all the time.
