By inspecting and replacing the belt as soon as possible, you can eliminate problems such as belt breakage and improve fuel efficiency.

Drive belt is worn out

If the drive belt is worn out, acceleration will decrease and the belt may break, making it impossible to drive.
The width of the belt plays a major role in shifting gears.
As the belt width narrows due to wear, speed will be reduced.

The drive belt has been broken

When the drive belt reaches the end of its service life, it wears out, cracks, and finally breaks (breaks).
In the sense of transmitting the drive, if the chain breaks, the scooter will not be able to move forward even if the engine is running.
It can break when running and is dangerous, so maintenance is necessary.
The drive belt is located inside the crankcase and cannot be visually inspected.
It is recommended that maintenance be carried out according to the age and distance of the vehicle.

■The Role of Drive Belts
The drive belt for scooters is responsible for transmitting the rotational motion of the engine to the drive (tire).
Since the belt itself is a part of the transmission, precision and quality are required.

■Structure
The structure of the belt consists of six layers, and the quality is determined by changing the type of core wire and the material of rubber.

■Drive transmission and wear of the belt
However, in reality, the centerline is an important part of the belt that transmits power, so the centerline position is a key point in the design.
Since the width and position of the centerline are also related to the speed ratio, when the belt is worn, the drive transmission performance is reduced and fuel consumption is affected.

■Durability
Drive belt wear consists of cracking, peeling, and abrasion, and it takes a certain amount of time for the belt to break.
It can be judged visually, but since it is usually in the crankcase, it is appropriate to predict the replacement period according to the mileage and the elapsed years.


The belt may break due to the influence from the surrounding parts (pulley, torque cam side, etc.).
It is recommended to check the pulleys, weight rollers and other peripheral parts at the time of belt replacement, and replace them if necessary.
